I would think station fights would be easier to implement as well.
DUST attackers vs DUST defenders.
EVE Players take down the stationGÇÖs shields and launch Clone Reanimation Units which attach themselves to the station and drill through the armour allowing the insertion of DUST solders. Because it takes time to drill through the armour there will be a delay between the time the CRU is activated and the time the DUST battle occurs. This will coincide with the Conquerable Station coming out of reinforced.
The DUST battle will entail the attackers trying to take objectives or depleting the defenderGÇÖs clones. The defenders win by depleting the attackerGÇÖs clones. However, the insertion CRUGÇÖs used by the attackers only have a limited clone supply, while the Station has a large clone supply in Medical, and several smaller clone supplies at CRUGÇÖs scattered around the station. Each of these has a number of clones which gets depleted each time someone spawns at one, and if they are hacked, they change sides, and those clones are now available to the other side instead.
Attackers can win by taking the Command Centre and Engineering and initiating a shutdown of the stationGÇÖs defences. This process takes 5 minutes to complete and can be stopped from either Engineering or the Command Centre.
Attackers can win by taking Medical, and hacking or depleting each of the defenderGÇÖs CRUGÇÖs, then killing any surviving defenders.
Attackers can win by depleting the defenderGÇÖs clone reserves. This would be difficult without taking Medical as the side that holds Medical will have a substantial clone advantage.
Defenders win by depleting the clone reserves of the attackers. Initially the clone reserves of the attackers will be quite limited.
DUST attackers vs Automated defences.
If an EVE Corp does not have a DUST contingent, then they can purchase Drone defences for their stations. With Drone defences their will be CRUGÇÖs and Medical to capture for the Attackers to get more clones, while there would be DRUGÇÖs and a central Drone Hive to destroy or disable (hack) to deplete the defenderGÇÖs drone reserves. Taking the Command Centre and Engineering and holding them while the defences shutdown goes through its 5 minute cycle will still be an option for the Attackers.
With automated defences you get what you pay for as far as the quality of the defences. Also the Station Commander can improve defences by training drone skills. If the Station Commander (or a designate with the skills) is online when the battle occurs they should be able to influence the defences in a tactical manner. This would become a strategy game within EVE. Some EVE players would be able to specialize in station defence, and possibly take contracts from other CorpGÇÖs to man their defences during a DUST boardings attempt.
EVE attackers vs DUST defenders
EVE players can take a Conquerable Station by getting through itGÇÖs shields, then getting through its armour, and shooting holes in its structure (or threatening to) which lets out the air and kills the inhabitants (or threatens to). Yes, the DUSTers are suited up with their own air, but without access to station air, their supplies will eventually run out.
The DUST players defend the Station from EVE players by manning turrets. These turrets can be destroyed by EVE ships. Currently EVE players can man POS guns. This would be the same thing, except it would be DUST players manning the guns. This would give DUST players a chance to shoot back at EVE players through the turret interface.
EVE & DUST attackers vs EVE and DUST defenders DUST solders are attacking the Station while their EVE counterparts are pounding on the stationGÇÖs armour. Will the DUSTers take the station for the big payout before the EVE ships take down the armour and take the station themselves? Is it better for the defending DUSTers to be manning turrets or defending objectives? Will a defending fleet of EVE ships come and drive away the attacking fleet?
DUST Players not mandatary The idea is that having DUST players in your Corp, or hiring them on contract, can be beneficial in taking or defending Conquerable Stations, but it should not be mandatory. An EVE corp should still be able to take or defend Conquerable Stations without using DUST players. |
